situated at an altitude of 2650m, munich-based studio designliga has transformed a traditional skiing hut into the ‘quattro festkogl alm’ in celebration of AUDI‘s all-wheel-drive technology. located in the center of the obergurgl-hochgurgl skiing area in the austrian alps, the project represents a dialogue between the existing mountain structure and high-tech automotive design.

a metamorphosis is created between old and new elements with a geometric form, which is based on the iconic image of the audi rings. clad in a faceted matte-finish and anodized aluminium, the inserted piece gradually wraps its way from the outdoor terrace into the interior dining area. the glowing color and bright use of red makes the renovation visible from long distances.

the materials used in the hut offer a sense of contrast with media-enhanced elements applied throughout. the tables feature red-and-white checked tablecloths that when activated dissolve the pattern to show a mountain landscape. guests seated at these media tables can also view quattro clips and access information on the skiing area, including an interactive plan of the pistes and up-to-date weather forecasts.
