designboom architecture editorial internship the designboom team

the internship would begin as early as possible in november/december 2012 (max january 2013) and continue for a duration of 8 months. you will work in designboom’s office in milan, italy, where you will be an essential member of a small international team of smart people. you will report directly to designboom’s executives and senior editors and will be co-responsible for producing the majority of the original content on designboom. working hours are monday to friday, 9am – 6pm (except in circumstances where we may have to work extra to meet deadlines). you will receive a contribution to your living expenses and work-travel stipend. as part of your internship you will experience the life and culture of milan.

editorial internship in architecture we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual who is interested in developing his (hers) subject-specific knowledge through research, networking and writing about architecture. you will help to manage the day-to-day production of designboom’s editorial architecture content, therefore, you should have good writing skills, an eye for detail, and experience in editing for accuracy and flow.

you will acquire comprehensive experience that is essential for the independent practice: comprehensive experience in basic practice areas, explore specialized areas of practice, develop professional judgment, and refine your career goals. most importantly, at designboom, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience of internet publishing. you will be actively involved in developing provocative features, current news updates, and analyzing architecture’s artistic, technical, social and economic dimensions. responsibilities include photography, editing and uploading images and video footage, networking, and much more.

we use mac computers, so skills using the adobe suite, particularly photoshop, are a plus. ideally you are also proficient in using social networking sites professionally.

*** the designboom internship program is based on a tradition of mentorship. in the past, we have had many talented interns from all across the world. interns from countries outside of the EU (european union) would need to prepare the necessary paperwork enabling them to stay in italy for 8 months. designboom will provide a letter stating its offer of internship and consult with you on different strategies related to your country of provenience in obtaining a student / holiday working VISA.
