british architect david adjaye‘s addition to the site takes the form of elongated 60 meter box, elevated above the ground and clad in a jagged mosaic of broken slate. the textured façade is punctuated by an irregular pattern of deep set windows, while a bamboo lined pathway culminates in a tall slot that forms the entrance to the villa.

contrasting the monolithic lateral elevations, a generous amount of glazing is found at both ends of the structure. internally, a vibrant play of light is created by a series of skylights that illuminate the dramatically sculpted ceilings and walls. the ground plane contains a number of rectangular glazed openings with illuminated views beneath the building. exposed concrete is used throughout the dwelling, with bamboo flooring used in each of the five bedrooms.
