the interiors of ‘130 william’, the 800 foot-tall (244 meter) residential skyscraper designed by sir david adjaye, have been revealed for the first time. unveiled in the photos below, the building’s interiors and model residences have also been designed by adjaye and his firm, adjaye associates. ‘in defining the design for 130 william I sought to celebrate new york city’s heritage of masonry architecture, referencing the historical architecture once pervasive upon one of the city’s earliest streets,’ says the architect. ‘however, and more importantly, 130 william has been crafted to focus on the new possibilities of urban, vertical living.’

designed by adjaye associates in collaboration with local architect hill west, 130 william comprises 66 stories that contain a total of 242 residences and an expansive collection of amenities. the project will also incorporate a new public plaza park, designed by adjaye, as well as retail space located within the building’s base. with the first residents already moving in ahead of the project’s full completion in fall 2021, the new photos offer a look at what life inside the building will be like.

each of the 242 residences, which range in size from studios to four bedroom homes, have airy interiors framed by oversized bronze arched windows. adjaye custom designed all fixtures and hardware throughout the residences — including the faucets, showerheads, accessories, and door handles — in a burnished bronze finish. meanwhile, wide-plank white oak flooring extends throughout each home.
