Cypress Villa Complex nestles in the mountains of Mazandaran

The Cypress Villa Complex by Siavash Shakibaei is situated in a mountainous area in Mazandaran, Iran, known for its striking foggy landscapes. This region offers affordable opportunities for residential villas, inspiring the creation of these small, modern homes.

The villas, each with a footprint of about 100 sqm, are arranged around a shared landscape. The concept draws from traditional northern Iranian houses, with cedar trees demarcating the spaces between them. The design aims to modernize the region’s traditional typology by maintaining its arrangements while reimagining the form. Through the use of exposed materials and a focus on geometry, the villas are designed to be affordable and easily replicable.

Siavash Shakibaei reimagines traditional Iranian typology

Villas that cover an area of 170 sqm, are set on a 1,500 sqm lot and feature two master bedrooms, a terrace, and a functional green roof with a jacuzzi and outdoor shower. Siavash Shakibaei Studio incorporates shared spaces, such as green areas, sitting zones, and a 100-meter promenade. Additional amenities include a mini-paddle court, a children’s play area, a fountain, and a gazebo with a barbecue corner, fostering a sense of community among residents. Narrow alleys between the villas further enhance the neighborhood atmosphere, providing a visually appealing setting with plants and an open sky.
