Pham Huu Son Architects completes SkyGarden House in vietnam

Pham Huu Son Architects has realized the SkyGarden House, a lively townhouse located in Nha Trang City, Central Vietnam. Built on a 100 sqm non-square plot, the design faced challenges due to its unconventional shape, resulting in an uneven perimeter outline. The primary goal of the architects was to effectively integrate natural elements into the living space, fostering a warm atmosphere within an urban environment. To accomplish this, the team incorporated large glass panels and glass doors, a skylight above the staircase, and various semi-open patios adorned with abundant greenery. These design features maximize natural light, reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day, decrease energy consumption, and establish a harmonious connection between indoor spaces and nature, avoiding a monotonous atmosphere.

a blend of modern design, eco-friendly solutions & space optimization

The SkyGarden House comprises a living room, kitchen, ground-floor bedroom, two additional bedrooms on the second floor, and the master bedroom on the third floor. These areas interconnect via a staircase and an open void at the house’s center. Small touches of greenery are found surrounding bedrooms and sanitary spaces, resembling miniature gardens. This serves to enhance indoor air quality by reducing external dust and offers vibrant views from the inside. However, challenges arise due to the glass’s heat-absorbing properties, making heat dissipation complex. To address this, Pham Huu Son Architects (see more here) divided the glass into multiple layers with gaps to facilitate air circulation, aiding in releasing internal heat and cooling the interior by allowing outside air to enter. Trees are strategically positioned around the ground floor, serving as a verdant screen that ensures privacy for the bedroom area while offering pleasant internal views. Surrounding the living room is a pool, which provides an attractive sight from the living and kitchen areas and enhances the cooling of the interior during warmer days. Inside, the house embodies a minimalist style, prioritizing simplicity and employing warm tones to craft a comfortable ambiance. Moreover, the use of reflective glass expands vistas, fostering a sense of spaciousness and connection with the outdoors.
