architecture studio skynoa has completed the redesign of the 2,000 sqm esprit asia headquarter location in shanghai. the heritage warehouse building, which houses the new office and showroom, provides a unique space of over 2 floors, which gave the designers the perfect grounds to bring the spirit and essence of esprit’s first store in san francisco, which opened in the 80s, back to life in this new location.

skynoa aimed to create a design that combines the impressive brand heritage with a new handwriting of today’s time. with the core design principle of simplicity, the new interior was created to be clean and uncomplicated. spatial elements of different heights and materials were placed to give guidance through-out the open room, such as kitchen islands, meeting rooms, presentation walls or central enclosed rooms which provide privacy.

overall, a fresh, bright space was generated in order to celebrate esprit’s spirit and positivity. the color palette was kept neutral, giving emphasis to the reception blue terrazzo and the staircase in pink stucco. meanwhile, accents of color were also added as movable seats and cushions.

the center of both floors serves as a gathering place for open communication and interactions. the employees’ working desks are separated, individual spaces close to the windows, providing privacy within a well-lit environment. all in all, the material choices and the new office design identity are modern, simple, playful with accents of color and visually reflect the brand’s new ethos in today’s time.
