House H interacts with surrounding rock formations in Corfu

House H by buerger katsota architects is situated on a seafront plot with private access to a protected beach on Corfu’s western coast, in Greece. The design prioritizes a single-story structure that minimally impacts the rocky terrain and nature, enveloping existing tall olive trees. The timber canopy, with a parabolic plan, serves as a climatic moderator, providing comfortable outdoor spaces throughout the day. Private areas, including bedrooms and wet units, are housed in four free-standing volumes.

the project utilizes timber structure resting on a concrete base

Interstitial spaces in between act as serene living areas, seamlessly extending the interiors to the outdoor area with extensive glazing. An 18m-long pool, perpendicular to the linear house, cantilevers over nine meters, aligning with the sea horizon. The terrazzo floor ensures visual continuity, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. House H by buerger katsota architects, resting on a concrete base, utilizes prefabricated cross-laminated timber for walls, roof, and canopy, facilitating a swift construction process. The design integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, demonstrating maximum energy performance within the olive grove’s grid and the landscape’s scale.
