each structure installed over the field research centre, entirely build from stainless steel, has a diameter of 14 meters and a height of three 3.5 meters. on anther handall fourteen domes are provided with tensioned ETFE membranes. this particular material has some great properties like a hight light permeability that reaches 95%, dirt resistance and self cleaning properties — making it an ideal external skin for the domes.
