indonesia-based practice local architecture bureau (LAB) unveils its bogor creative hub as a ‘generator for creative people.’ the project seeks to introduce an inspiring communal place that acts as an open platform for exchange and spontaneous, informal exercise. this building is situated along a large swath of land adjacent to an historic, 200 year-old building that had been built by dutch colonists. with its low stance, the geometry of the new creative hub sensitively occupies its site and is expressed in plan with a single, gestural curve that embraces a landscaped courtyard.

local architecture bureau (LAB) realizes its bogor creative hub as a single, porous geometry, with accessibility from every direction. the work smoothly connects the surrounding open space as an extension of the park. its curved form is oriented toward the site’s large trees and historic colonial building as if to fill in the edge of the complex. inside, the hub is programmed with an auditorium, classrooms, and gallery which occupy different geometries under the single sweeping roof. the team notes that this roof takes on the dominant expression of tropical design. each program looks out toward the open and communal terrace that swells the interior.
moving through the local architecture bureau-designed bogor creative hub, visitors note the repetitive array of columns. this element serves as a threshold, softening the transition between the terrace and the interior. the sensation of covered open space continuous thru the terrace, providing an inclusive environment between education, leisure and outdoor performance. the building themselves leave room within the scheme, such as outdoor plaza to historical building, and to encourage creativity through a social, informal space and dedicated programs.
