situated on a busy road in a residential district of kasia-city, japan, ‘black roof house’ provides living accommodation primarily across one storey. container design has sought to construct a small scale property which features a black slanting roof as its focal point, admitting sunlight into the building as well as offering a compact loft space.

at ground floor level, a three car garage can be viewed from the comfortable open plan living quarters, while an intimate tatami room provides the home’s occupants with a more private and secluded area of the design. a staggered stairway leads to a lofted upper level which features a terrace, offering views of the neighboring area.
