brazilian practice AUM arquitetos has completed ‘alphaville new esplanade’, a series of common spaces for a condominium complex in votorantim, são paulo, brazil. set into the topography, the facilities are divided into three different levels, a multipurpose and exercise room, an outdoor pool and sports and recreation fields. exposed concrete beams edge the varied rooflines, spanning and framing the glass-enclosed entries.
a smaller structure containing the changing rooms is bordered with muxarabi screens which line the northern facade. the ornate grid pattern creates an aesthetically pleasing filtered daylight which enters a perimeter corridor during the strong afternoon sun. each panel may be rotated on a central pivot, opening to the outdoors to introduce a cooling breeze. the concrete, stone glass and wood material palette are continuously used throughout the buildings creating a unified appearance.
