a 17th century castle in blérancourt, france has been re-envisioned as the home of the ‘franco-american museum of blérancourt’. almost lost in 1917 as a pavilion to assist civilians of the front lines, the structure is being converted into the museum by french firm ateliers lion and paris-based museographer studio adrien gardère. conceived by anne morgan in 1924, the collection contains objects from the 16th century from french and american origins.reflects historical events and positive cultural exchanges. following an extension to the south wing in 1989, this second phase will complete the century-long process.

the former vegetable garden will host an arboretum and gardens of the world. the interior will host 2,120 square meters of galleries. an overall storyline of thefranco-american friendship will be imparted throughout the visitors experience, emphasizing their mutual assistance during hardship, artistic taste and common ground of interests. three wings will host these themes while responding to the natural circulation possibilities of the site. completion is expected in 2014.
