‘christ the king kindergarten’ is a montessori method school in hyogo, japan by japanese practice atelier cube. a pixelated facade of windows and layered concrete panels serves as a backdrop to an outdoor playground for the young school children. diverse in size and positioned at unsystematic heights, the opening introduce light, wind, smells and sound through the building, inherently connecting with the external environment. the intention is to heighten the sense of distance with the encompassing context and further stimulate the sensibilities of the growing students.
