this renovation project in the rolling catalonian countryside sees an existing farmhouse undergo a complete makeover, without damaging the natural environment. completed by arnau estudi d’arquitectura, the design team started by analyzing the plot’s existing landscape, before deciding which structures to strengthen, and which to demolish entirely.
the farm’s only new addition is a concrete warehouse that doubles as a workshop, complete with changing facilities for employees, and a mechanical room containing the site’s biomass boiler. a steel footbridge links the original stone farmhouse with the warehouse’s green roof, while further walls and pathways help form more coherent circulation routes across the site. the redesign allows for a new generation of farmers to fully utilize the plot, while enjoying the remote and unspoiled environment.
