the ‘mobile sauna’ project was conceived by chinese studio archiplein in response to a tough winter endured in 2012. finding a way to fight against the cold climate, in collaboration with p.cauderay, l. banchini, r. fulop, l.vaissade, a.banchard created a transportable structure that can be heated on the inside. wanting to use as little material as possible to form a self-supporting and air proof envelope, the small unit consists of six modular panels that are easily assembled with just two truck straps and a roof piece. the simplicity of the design allows a level of spatial complexity on the inside, with a series of stacked wooden benches.
