two new drone videos, both taken on christmas day, show the current state of apple’s vast new headquarters as it races towards completion. once finalized, the 260,000 square meter offices — designed by british architect norman foster — will also house a 1,000-seat auditorium, an on-site power plant, underground parking, and a company fitness center. at the heart of the design, a central garden will offer the company’s employees outdoor dining areas surrounded by freshly planted trees.

the first video, filmed by aerial videography enthusiast matthew roberts, shows the scale of the scheme’s rooftop solar panels (estimated to be 65% complete), and the development of the surrounding neighborhood, particularly along tantau avenue. the second film, shot by duncan sinfield, tours the quiet site on christmas day as construction work stopped for the holiday. it is clear from the footage that the majority of work is currently taking place inside the facility, with employees expected to move in later in 2017.
