korean company AnLstudio has completed ‘the suit’ renovation project for the kapok int’l fashion city convention hall. located on the 10th floor of a central building in guangzhou in china, the design enhances the space’s lighting and sound capacities through a series of new internal layers. in addressing the preexisting framework, the interior translates the idea of fashion as a silhouette, a cover for the human body through assembling and rearranging different elements over the foundations. a folded polygonal surface is optimized into modular units, its multifaceted application enclosing the structural installations. similar to the image of a folded-up sleeve, the stage visually becomes the focal point, while a sequence of illuminating bulbs line the diagonal runway, accentuating its sense of rhythm.
