anagram architects faces office building with dynamic pixelated screen

for the design of an office building for a major outdoor media and advertising company, new dehli-based anagram architects investigated the potentials for architectural expression and brand identity. dubbed ‘the digit’, the result is a semi-elliptical cylindrical volume distinguished on its street facing elevation by a red pixelated rain screen. among this façade the company’s P-shaped logo is featured with rotating discs, which spin when activated by wind force. the dynamic element seeks to not only grab attention as a roadside billboard might do, but also relate, ‘to a deeper value and meaning to the organization, the edifice, and the occupant.’

the building’s overall volume is informed both by the hierarchy of programmatic organization as well as the need for regulated daylight and heat gain within the offices. additionally, the shape loosely references the extruded profile of a thumb, the anthropomorphic container of personal identity.

the 15,000 square foot (140 square meter) structure’s curving form resists the tendency to max out the volumetric space of the thin sight, but allows for plentiful daylight in all areas of the office. the luminous environments are complemented by vegetation located on the floor plates’ edges.
