Titled ‘A house you say good morning to and hug when you come home’, the project is a comment on the somewhat coldness of modern-day homes. The designer notes how with today’s typical residential architecture, ‘we sit in the same boxes and probably think more or less the same thoughts and come to more or less the same conclusions’. Typical housing communities often comprise repetitive brick facades and rectangular forms, lacking any distinctive qualities. The designer suggests that this monotony extends to the inhabitants of the structures, limiting their thoughts and suppressing their individuality.

Breaking this mundane practice, ‘A house you say good morning to and hug when you come home’ instead envisions a more expressive architecture. Each of the homes from the series are unique and encourage individuality, inspired by an abstracted modernist aesthetic.
