adrian kasperski weaves house into the hills of polish landscape

designed in the krakow valleys of poland by adrian kasperski, this house is completely integrated into the eroded parts of the hilly landscape, formed by the small local water streams. the focal point of the project was adapting the building to the pre-existing natural environent, while protecting and preserving the rare plants and interesting rocks of the area. also, the architect wanted to make sure that the residents can enjoy the privacy and comfort of their home, in close proximity to nature.

when viewed from the western and southern parts of the valley, adrian kasperski‘s building is invisible, as the green roof is adjusted to the natural land inclination and fits in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. space between existing scarps and built walls is backfilled and contoured with soil obtained from the foundation works. the use of local materials, such as broken limestone, emphasizes the connection to the environment, but it also has ecological and economic reasoning, as it significantly reduces the carbon footprint and the cost of the entire construction.

the idea was the creation of a building integrated into the environment

the house includes a terrace, which is connected to the living room through large glass windows. thanks to this area, the building opens up to natural light and to an impressive view of the krakow valleys. the interior design features natural wood elements, and floorings in polished concrete. the plan seperates common and private areas, placing the bedroom on a different floor, for privacy. a wardrobe, and a bathroom are also added to the room. in addition, the layout incorporates a workshop space, designed as an art studio for the residents.
