the mocha house by a-cero architects is the result of a renovation of an existing home on the outskirts of madrid. the client’s need for a home capable of accommodating different uses and levels of privacy drove the aesthetic and layout of the design. sweeping concrete masses enclose the various spaces while allowing large openings with views to the surrounding yard. from the garage, one can enter the main home or the guest rooms with their own entrance onto the back yard. a datum running east-west informally splits the house into two zones, one containing the social areas while the other contains the private bedrooms. different areas of the house can be accessed individually or through the main volume so that guests and owners can inhabit each zone separately or together.  each level has its own views to one portion of the yard, offering the opportunity to be outdoors from various sections of the home.
