125 greenwich street, a 912 foot-tall (278 meter) residential skyscraper designed by rafael viñoly, has officially topped out in manhattan’s downtown financial district. the condominium building, rising 88 stories above its iconic surroundings, is characterized by a curved glass façade that sweeps around an exposed concrete column. this distinctive curvature serves to exaggerate the panoramic 360 degree views that take in the hudson river, the statue of liberty, the world trade center complex, and the new york city skyline.

having previously spoken about the development with davide bizzi of bizzi & partners, the global real estate firm behind the project, and its interior designers march & white, designboom joined viñoly and his team to take a closer look at the building.

new york is the epitome of a city that grew and became the herald of verticality,’ said rafael viñoly during the topping out ceremony. ‘this is a tall building that contributes to one of the most iconic and important skylines in the world. the dynamism of the city also justifies this approach to the kind of product that we are putting into the market which is a carefully designed and unique combination mix of small apartments which are blessed by this extraordinary view.’

125 greenwich street comprises a collection of 273 residences, from studios to three-bedroom units, all of which present sweeping, panoramic views. the design team maintained a detail oriented design approach — from the placement of the triplex of amenities toward the top to a unique organization of units. in designing the interiors, elliot march and james white — founders of interior design studio march & white — were influenced by their work on private member’s clubs and superyachts. each of the apartments enjoy luxurious finishes, top of the line appliances and fittings, and refined details that add a visual complexity to the space, such as subtle metal trims in the kitchen.

crowning the building, a 15,000-square-foot, residents-only, private club — dedicated to lifestyle and wellness amenities — spans the building’s top three floors. according to the developers, it is the only new condominium development in new york to provide amenities on the top three floors of a building. on site lifestyle benefits include an expansive resident lounge, a screening room, and a private dining room for a seated party of ten, complete with a fireplace and a catering kitchen.

meanwhile, the plentiful wellness amenities include: a 50′ lap pool with poolside chaise lounges, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and a panoramic view of manhattan’s cityscape; a spa with a sauna, steam room, message therapy rooms, and a treatment room for by-appointment professional hairstyling, manicure, and pedicure services; a relaxation lounge; and a fully equipped fitness center, weight room, and yoga studio with 24-hour access, top-of-the-line equipment, and a private training room. see designboom’s previous coverage of the project here.
