updated eclectic collection by tom dixon at maison et objet 2013

on the occasion of winter edition of maison et objet 2013, tom dixon presents additions to his ‘eclectic collection’ which first debuted in 2012. the new artefacts have been conceived for the eccentric collector’s cabinet, the modern architects table and the british tearoom trolley.

the objects are impressive and built to last, and are designed to be used or played with, to be treasured or to be given. they are made from copper, brass, cast iron and fossilized wood; the combination of natural and semi-precious metals existing to only improve with age.

the updated ‘eclectic collection’ includes ‘tool’, a kit of parts for the mathematics aficionado and precision draughtsman, etched from a single sheet of brass; while ‘copycat’ is a celebration of lettering and symbols, and the ‘golden rule’ being a solid brass ruler – the ultimate desk tools.

‘cell’ are photo-etched tea light holders in brass and stainless steel, whose geometric pattern, etched onto the pentagon structure, casts a web of complex shadows when lit.

finally, the studio’s candles: ‘london’, ‘royalty’ and ‘orientalist’, are now available in three-wick and smaller gift set versions. their scents are created to capture the essence of the travelling, trading and nostalgic past, accented with the vibrant future of british life. each one is housed in a brass, copper or stainless steel vessel, with a larger version accompanied by a marble lid.
