designer's own words:

THE CIRCUSBOY (CHILDREN’S) CHAIR™is a one- of- a kind, original, custom piece. It has been made as part of the interiors of a little boy’s bedroom and follows the theme of a Circus Tent that is predominant in the room. The Chair is a very comfortable, sturdy chair, foam padded and upholstered in silk. It doubles as a convenient 3 shelved bookshelf or display / shelving unit and is wide enough to store a variety of things. In keeping with the clients’ brief of making a fun, dramatic room for their 5-year-old son, the designer added this piece of furniture to a corner desk to further enhance the beauty of the Circus Tent themed room.

Materials:
Ply Wood
Silk cloth
Glass panels

Detailing:
Master artisans made this piece by carving a vertical tent shaped, 3-tiered shelving unit as the back of the chair. The legs of the chair were made to resemble tiny box- office booth rooms with glass panels in them. Each shelf had either carved bunting, or an arch carved into its top. Each shelf was glassed in on 2 sides to give a miniature tent effect. The piece was exquisitely hand painted in a multi coloured glossy finish. The top of the chair was the top of the tent, with striped colours and a gilded turret to signify ‘The Big Top’. The chair is upholstered in yellow silk.
