prada mode lands in tokyo
Prada unveils its ninth edition of Prada Mode at Tokyo Teien Art Museum on May 12 and 13, 2023. The event sees the iconic institution undergo a remarkable transformation under the visionary guidance of Kazuyo Sejima. Apart from being an acclaimed architect and the director of the Teien Art Museum, Sejima has established a longstanding collaboration with Prada, which makes her well-versed in the transformative power of the fashion empire. With her expertise and artistic vision, she is the curator and host of this extraordinary event. By reimagining the Teien Art Museum through Sejima’s lens, the event creates an immersive experience that merges the worlds of fashion, art, and architecture, resulting in an alchemical fusion of creativity.
‘I’m very happy to have the opportunity to host and curate Prada Mode at Teien Art Museum. This is a new type of connection and conversation in which architecture, garden, art and music become one. This event represents the opportunity for the museum to become a new public space.’ says Kazuyo Sejima.

an intersection of creative disciplines
During Prada Mode’s ninth iteration, guests will have the opportunity to explore various art forms while delving into the historic architecture of the museum and the site-specific artworks curated by Sejima herself, which are scattered throughout the expansive museum garden.
The centerpiece of the event is a temporary pavilion designed by Ryue Nishizawa featuring a captivating curved wooden surface designed to facilitate engaging conversations. This pavilion is located in the European garden, creating a focal point for interaction and dialogue. Additionally, various areas are created throughout the venue, allowing guests to enjoy the entire space and engage with the art and surroundings.
Prada Mode Tokyo will offer a diverse range of activities for visitors, including music performances spanning classical, minimal, and analog genres. Engaging conversations, traditional tea ceremonies, and original workshops will also be available, providing opportunities for immersive experiences.
