A LOOK AT THE ‘O-BOLD’ ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH
Expanding on his popular ‘O’ watch series, Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka has crafted a new timepiece for Issey Miyake WATCH, dubbed ‘O-Bold’. Launching publicly on April 21, 2023, via Seiko Watch, the model will appear in a special showcase at the Issey Miyake Milan store during Salone del Mobile 2023.
Following a ‘shape of water—transparent time’ design concept, the ‘O’ collection was first released in 2011. Its one-letter name nods to the French word for water (eau), while its transparent design alludes to the liquid’s natural consistency. ‘The ‘O’ series has no concrete ‘shape,’ like water, and radiates the brilliance of the moment, silently marking the passage of time as if it were encapsulated inside. Since its launch, the ‘O’ series has constantly evolved into a variety of colors and variations,’ writes the brand.

design upgrades by Tokujin Yoshioka
With ‘Bold & Fit’ assigned as the keywords for the new Issey Miyake WATCH model by Tokujin Yoshioka (see more here), a few simple but interesting design upgrades distinguish ‘O’ from ‘O-Bold’. To start, the Japanese designer widened the bangle to emphasize the watch’s transparent aesthetic, while the diameter around the wrist has shrunk, creating a form more suitable for those with thinner arms. Ultimately, ‘the watch is so lightweight and comfortable that you may forget you are wearing it,’ adds Issey Miyake WATCH.
