f.o.g. architecture embodies skypeople brand in interior design
F.O.G. Architecture explores how interior designs can represent brands, in a maze-like design with Collage City for SKYPEOPLE in Beijing, China. Using a reflective and disruptive architectural language, the shop aims to empower young professionals through modern fashion. The interior – and SKYPEOPLE’s products – embody simple, practical and decent features that acknowledge the underlying fabric of urban environments.

forming connections between projects and inhabitants
F.O.G. Architecture is an international studio, founded in 2018, who are committed to keeping a connection with people central to their projects. For the Collage City design process, the firm studied SKYPEOPLE’s brand and the roles their outfits play in urban settings. The studio theorized that as good fashion design makes dressing well effortless for consumers, creating an elegant commercial space would provide shoppers with creativity and pleasure.

columns and couches reflect winter playground
The ‘mirror fragments’ installation is a recurring feature of F.O.G. Architecture’s Collage City interior. Views are both reflected and obstructed, creating a labyrinth within the store and the visual effect of a city being divided and reconfigured. This design aims to inspire shoppers to make creative fashion choices by observing the retail space from different perspectives. The fitting rooms are the project’s centerpiece, sitting within an inverted trapezoid that hangs from the middle of the store, elevated 20 cm from the floor. The structure’s exterior invites customers to try on outfits with its soft and cushioned texture inspired by the surface of down jackets. The columns and couches are intended to be imagined as forest trees and park benches, relating to a ‘winter playground’.

Additionally, the inventory items are stored in dust bags and displayed on racks at the back of the store, relieving storage pressure, saving space, and expediting the shopping process. Overall, F.O.G. Architecture’s design inspires shoppers to explore new perspectives, creating a space that is memorable without undermining the visual integrity of the retail store.
