mesmerizing 3D animations transform a recycled plastic bottle into lush fabric

from plastic waste to wearable fashion

German design studio Moby Digg envisions fashion brand Marc O’Polo’s sustainable fabric production processes with a captivating 3D visualization campaign. Using AI programs, the designers create a mesmerizing animated video which encapsulates the store’s ethos and simplifies their complex recycling process which transforms plastic waste into wearable fashion. Against an earthy background, the sequence begins with a weathered plastic bottle which slowly disintegrates into a swirling cloud of particles, eventually evolving into interwoven fibres that compose a rich green fabric rippling elegantly against the blue sky. The video is enriched with an authentic and modern score, incorporating Foley sounds and ASMR.

moby digg visualizes sustainable design processes

Aligning with the launch of Marc O’Polo’s new Low Impact collection, Moby Digg’s branding campaign illustrates the complexities of recycled fabric production within a 30 second video. The studio’s 3D animation depicts a hypnotic story showing the lifecycle of a discarded, weathered plastic bottle as it is revived from waste into a refined fashion product.

Set against a studio-like backdrop, the PET bottle starts to slowly shrink into a smaller form until it implodes and forms a neutral colored particle cloud. The hovering recycled pellets become infused with dark green dyed granulate, and the mixture slowly melts down into organically flowing fibres that begin to spiral faster and stronger, until strings of yarn begin to emerge from the element and interweave to form the piece of fabric. At the end, the final product waves delicately against a blue backdrop as the Marc O’Polo logo appears.

encapsulating marc o’polo’s brand ethos

The concept for Moby Digg’s 3D visualization project centers on encapsulating Marc O’Polo’s identity and values while relaying the technical complexities of their production methods in an engaging display. In particular, the fashion brand values exclusive use of natural materials and strives for sustainability and elevated consciousness — from transportation and logistics, and fabric production, packaging and supply chain traceability, to social responsibilities and stakeholder engagement.
