sprouting dish 'patella crescenda' grows fresh microgreens without soil at home

The House of Thol presents a green sprouting kit, dubbed ‘Patella Crescenda’, that only requires one cycle of watering. This kit grows microgreens hygienically without soil or any disposable substrate; on top of that, it doesn’t consume any extra energy since seedlings grow in conditions created at home.  The system consists of a terracotta dish and base, a glass reservoir and two half stainless steel growing disks. Simply, one has to fill the glass reservoir and set it in place, make sure the water is at the right level, and sow loose seeds directly onto the stainless steel growth disks, and simply wait and watch the fresh greens grow.

the many benefits of the Patella Crescenda

The studio‘s new green sprouting dish offers many benefits: it reduces food waste by allowing the user to grow the greens they want and need. Additionally with hyper-local cultivation, it prevents unnecessary transportation movements and reduces the need for plastic packaging. Moreover, the kit provides personal food security and allows the growth of fresh and healthy vegetables in various circumstances. Other than its practical and environmental benefits, the users will develop the habit of growing their own food, while enjoying the satisfaction of seeing their healthy greens grow.

Microgreens come in all kinds of flavors and grow from seed to edible plant in a week and seeds are widely available and easy to store for longer periods of time. The concentration of vitamin C, vitamin K, beta carotene, and anti-oxidants in microgreens can be 40 times higher than in adult plants. The Patella Crescenda kicked off a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign on October 20th and it is now possible to pre-order the sprouting set until November 25th (early bird deals available).
