Luxurious ‘envy’ residence blends with the mediterranean scene

‘Envy house’ by architect Jaime Salvá shapes up a holiday residence in the southwest of Mallorca. Located in the Mediterranean’s Santa Ponça area, the house develops horizontally blending with its natural landscape. The design exposes concrete materiality in its main volume, featuring wooden slats as supplementary elements throughout. Aesthetic principles meet structural effectiveness in the use of concrete, high in maintenance, and sliding doors that pop up from behind the external wall’s thickness, preventing any heat loss. The arrangement of the house adapts to function for an adequate distribution of views and circulations. ‘Envy’ orientates its mass to the south in an L-shape configuration enclosing its exterior space as a ‘shield’ from neighboring views.

Concrete and wood assemble a timeless geometric composition

The wooden slats have been placed strategically complementing the composition of an open ground floor. The immediate connection between the interior and the exterior space allows the living room an overlooking to the outdoor swimming pool. The dining room and kitchen stand in the open and can be separated by sliding windows. The selected neutral tones and natural material textures assemble a ‘contemporary Mediterranean’ style, as described by the architect. ‘Envy house’ is defined by geometric minimal shapes that stand timeless.
