A SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE BY langarita-navarro ARQUITECTOS

Langarita-Navarro Arquitectos has completed ‘Casa Hernández’, a single family house located in a newly built neighborhood in Madrid, Spain. Set on a south-facing plot at the end of a long row of semi-detached houses, alongside a small park, the residence features a wood shingle exterior. Meanwhile, an open air courtyard with lush vegetation immerses residents in a private green oasis. The home’s diverse exterior spaces also include a swimming pool with its own garden, as well another garden and covered terrace on the rooftop.open courtyard with lush vegetation completes langarita-navarro's casa hernández in madridall images by Rafael Trapiello

Casa Hernández connects interior and exterior spaces seamlessly

‘The clients’ cosmopolitan life, the memories of the landscapes they lived in the north of Europe, and their dedication to the world of art led to the need to challenge planning regulations and secure their two coveted aims: bright spaces with high ceilings for their artworks and the need to live with connections to a diverse exterior space,’ explains Langarita-Navarro Arquitectos.

The Madrid-based architecture studio has developed Casa Hernández as a three story residence, placing the living room, wine cellar, party and guest rooms on the basement. Two sunken gardens are also located on the same level. The ground floor features the kitchen, living and dining rooms, all of which are directly connected to the garden’s lush vegetation. The bedrooms, bathrooms, as well as a small library are located on the first floor, while the rooftop offers additional exterior spaces.
