bottega veneta celebrates italian artisans with 'bottega for bottegas' initiative

BOTTEGA VENETA HANDS OVER THE SPOTLIGHT

 

this holiday season bottega veneta is giving back to the independent artisans who make up italy’s world-renowned culture of craftsmanship. from papermakers to wine producers, 12 specially selected italian bottegas have temporarily taken over the luxury fashion house’s advertising spaces — both physical and online. the project is called ‘bottega for bottegas’ and not only does it celebrate these makers and creatives, but it also serves as a symbol of solidarity in difficult times for small, independent retailers.

 

‘we are thrilled to launch bottega for bottegas alongside italian artisans with whom we share the common values of creativity and craftsmanship,’  said bottega veneta CEO bartolomeo rongone. ‘we are proud to offer worldwide visibility to these ‘bottegas’ that are deeply rooted in italian culture, specially at a time where smaller entities continue to be impacted by the pandemic. it is with honor that we have passed on our advertising spaces, website, newsletters, and store windows and we hope that this will further highlight their excellence at a global level.

BOTTEGA VENETA, A HISTORY OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

 

since it was founded in vicenza in 1966, bottega veneta has made a name for its close links with craftsmanship. testament to this is the intrecciato, an intricate leather weaving technique that’s become the fashion brand’s signature. the intrecciato for the cabat — one of bottega veneta’s most iconic bag designs — takes two days to make.

 

as well as creating high-quality artisanal goods, bottega veneta has also invested in the future of the ‘made in italy’ culture. the company has made sure to keep its workshops in its home country and it has also established programs to train the next generations of artisans, most notably the bottega veneta school of leather in vicenza in 2006.

THE 12 BOTTEGAS OF CHRISTMAS

 

for the ‘bottega for bottegas’ campaign, bottega veneta has chosen artisans from all over italy: from lake como in the north to napoli in the south. these bottegas will be featured on advertising spaces across milan as well as in bottega veneta’s store windows. the products will also benefit from global exposure on the fashion brand’s website, where users are directed to the sites of the independent shops in question.

 

artisans include the amatruda family, who has a 750-year history of papermaking, and bespoke drum makers alessandro respighi and daniele accardo. there’s also gay-odin’s handcrafted chocolates, saponificio varesino’s traditional soap, and the 100% organic ‘made in italy’ ginepraio gin.
