settled on the outskirts of the city of morelia, mexico, ‘casa UC’ fades away the barrier of inside and outside, allowing a seamless transition between them. daniela bucio sistos sought to create contemplative and silent spaces, where the transition of textures and scales create a dynamic and reflective experience. the dwelling is characterized by two large circular openings that create a visual connection through the structure, while a circular foyer serves as the guiding axis for the residence.opposite circular openings offer visual connection through 'casa UC' in mexicoall images courtesy of dane alonso, mariano renteria garnica

daniela bucio sistos attended to form a residence in which all the interior spaces are in direct contact with the micro-environments generated inside the house. although ‘casa UC’ is an almost monochromatic dwelling, its big variety of textures provides it with different characters during the day. slender volumes allocated on a plan to create voids and courtyards that rise above masonry walls in the form of a slope. the main entrance is tucked in at the end of the textured partition wall that runs along almost the entire front.opposite circular openings offer visual connection through 'casa UC' in mexico

to enter the dwelling, residences or guests should cross the descending ramp, where one finds the main foyer with a tabachin tree in the center and a large circular elevated roof. once entering the vestibule, two large circular openings are set on both sides: one inside the library and the opposite one at the end of the patio connecting to the secondary bedrooms.opposite circular openings offer visual connection through 'casa UC' in mexico

the interior includes four bedrooms, a library, kitchen, dining room, terrace, living room, and an orchard. the residence opens up to a row of cypress trees at the back of the site through a large ramp that connects the living room with the garden. to the sides and front, it is closed to preserve privacy and maintain silence.opposite circular openings offer visual connection through 'casa UC' in mexico
