milan-based architecture studio wok has completed the redesign of the ‘myrto’ restaurant in porto cervo, italy. drawing influence from the local landscape -the warm sunlight, the crystal-clear sea, and the granite rocks- the interior takes shape as a minimalist cave-like environment of earth tones and sinuous shapes. the project ultimately serves as a site-specific concept, coming to life through an arrangement of empty, yet intimate spaces that welcome customers warmly.

one of the main sources of influence for the ‘myrto’ restaurant by studio wok is the powerful regional wind and the way it erodes and carves out the granite formations, turning them into architectural structures that can be lived in. consequently, the interior takes on the features of a cave with winding shapes and neutral tones that bring an ancient idea of the mediterranean to mind. in this way, this restyling project emerges as an opportunity to pay tribute to the area and to tell its story, while the architecture becomes a tool for narration and dissemination.

the materials, colors, and furniture were chosen and designed specifically for this refurbishment, resulting in a site-specific project. colored volumes and furnishings by italian company belca are placed within the abstract, fluid spaces, generating a contrasting effect, as well as a palette of greens that echoes the hues of the landscape. meanwhile, the outdoor patio is also transformed into an interior space, an underwater cave with a lightweight roof that reacts to the wind and sunlight, and provides a glimpse of the sky.
