british artist needles intricate 3D 'embroidered edibles' that look like real food

british artist and designer youmeng liu has unveiled a series of embroidered food designs that look like real food. using her newly developed 3D punch needle technique, liu has taken it upon herself to craft 301 detailed ’embroidered edibles’, from golden pies and waffles to juicy pieces of broccoli and watermelon.

youmeng liu uses a custom needle, pushing the colored thread into the base fabric in order to build up the three-dimensional textile ingredient. then, she uses scissors to sculpt the final realistic forms showcasing detailed texture and color variations. among the numerous common food items, many of liu’s embroidered works depict UK’s iconic delicacies, such as yorkshire puddings, baked beans, and even a complete english breakfast dish. till now, the artist has completed 19 out of the promised 301 designs, leaving us to anticipate her future mouth-watering pieces.
