sanlorenzo unveils 144-foot X-Space superyacht with interiors by piero lissoni

sanlorenzo, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of yachts, has unveiled images of its latest superyacht. dubbed the X-space, the 144-foot (44 meter) massive luxurious vessel offers five decks for guests to relax. with a sleek exterior designed by zuccon international project, the superyacht’s concept was centered around the idea of transparency, rendering it with glass whenever possible. the interiors were envisioned by italian designer piero lissoni who continues with the clear theme. the result is a blurred boundary between interior and exterior.

‘the X-SPACE has been forced to become a boat almost entirely made of glass: there are large panes of glass, large windows and some of the cabins no longer even have portholes but glass walls,’ said piero lissoni. ‘the interior has forced its hand on the exterior and the exterior has been so elastic and so well designed that the interior has almost adapted itself in a totally natural way. I think this is the most innovative language I’ve seen on a superyacht to date and it has made it possible to create a compact boat but with extraordinary proportions and the unique quality of sanlorenzo.’

transparency was the main design guide, but privacy was not left behind. the bridge deck has been stripped of the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin which have been moved to the bridge deck, and now hosts a luxurious apartment for the owner. complete with a master bedroom, living room and study room, the cabin is all framed by glass and has a private terrace at the bow complete with a swimming pool.

‘I think it has never been so important as it has in this project to seek to identify with the owner, who will be the great commander of this boat, hence the desire to create an entire deck dedicated to their needs,’ said bernardo zuccon. ‘this is a solution that is normally found on larger boats and it shows that this is a yacht where the owner will have the great luxury of being able to spend a lot of time on board. I’ve always thought that architecture is the primary tool to allow man to live better, and in this case the X-Space project was born with the desire not to create a wonderful floating structure, but to create a wonderful vessel for life.’

the first unit of the sanlorenzo X-space superyacht will be delivered in 2023.
