photographer anthony saroufim captures what used to be the first prefab chalet in lebanon

lebanese photographer anthony saroufim photographs chalet hindié, the first prefabricated lodge in the village of faraya in lebanon, built in the early 70s by lebanese architect maurice hindié. the concrete structure was located in a village 42 km away from the beirut city, known for its ski slopes and resorts. it was aimed to be part of a series that would follow the downward incline of the mountain.

photographer anthony saroufim shoots the hexagon-like concrete structure taking people to a time before the civil war interrupted the construction of these cabins. only the first one was built and today this structure is completely abandoned, making it even more interesting to look at. the prefabricated volume is symmetrical and is made up of two floors, and the architect designed it with the aim to create a suitable living environment and to nurture functioning societies.
