blank façade conceals minimalist all-white interior of 'chip & chop' house in spain

within northwest pozoblanco, in córdoba, spain, the ‘chip & chop’ house by design studio david ruiz molina (DRM) takes shape as an all-white residence with a blank façade. the design unravels around the concept ‘to see and be seen’, utilizing a central courtyard to let occupants look through all living spaces, even the most private ones.

DRM’s design is characterized by particular simplicity and geometry, generating a massive volume with a pure and radical character. the layout allocates the different uses within a U-shaped structure with textured whitewash walls that create a bunker-like look.

the interior surfaces adopt an all-white appearance, creating a minimalist space that encourages contemplative thinking. the ground floor consists of an area that serves as a living – kitchen – dining room, along with the master bedroom, a bathroom, and a laundry room. the upper level houses the study – library space, a bathroom and the terrace. all different functions wrap around the private central courtyard, which helps generate a cross-ventilated and brightly lit environment.
