designer's own words:
because we know the famous "laughing cow", we recognize that the animals which have the same laughing mouth and earrings are "different" from la vache qui rit. this difference somehow evokes "the answer" in us automatically. the purpose of this design is to provoke the shared icon in our mind in the other way around. this method could be realized only by a brand which has been loved for long years in all over the world.
we can recognize the laughing cow even if it is depicted as a silhouette because the elements of the laughing mouth and the earrings define what la vache qui rit is. in other words, the elements remind us the laughing cow even if it is used in other animals. however, of course, we recognize the difference and the center void which is pointed out with red triangles lead us to fill with the correct answer. this is the visual translation of "the laughing cow".
