this tiny monolithic house by marte marte architects stands like a small tower in the middle of a forest clearing. from the outside, the volume appears hermetic and introverted, as if blocks of stone were just stacked on top of each other. the expansive concrete walls create a protected living atmosphere inside the dwelling, complemented by low-set, iron-colored framed glass surfaces that reveal differentiated views of the natural surroundings.all images courtesy of marte marte architects

marte marte architects has developed the tiny house as a square volume measuring eight by eight meters and three levels high. massive walls made of insulating concrete create a sequence of chambers of different sizes on each level, while the resulting spatial composition is penetrated by deep incisions. these long but narrow openings reveal glimpses of the surrounding forest, as if they were framed paintings.

the three living spaces, arranged one above the other, are connected via a spiral staircase. the entrance level features a small studio in the center, while three chambers above it form an extraordinary living area. the retreat area of the well-fortified, small house is on the top level, and includes three bedrooms and a bathroom, grouped around three deep incisions.

layers of poured concrete form the home’s rough external appearance, while the inside is complete with smooth concrete walls and ceilings. steel-framed glass openings and fixtures complement this materiality, along with solid wood on the floors. the technical installations are reduced to a minimum, while LED lights fill the interiors with warm, candle-like light.
