jaser morrison: basel chair for vitraphoto: marc eggimann

renewing the classic genre of simple wooden chairs, jasper morrison‘s ‘basel’ for vitra is constructed from a solid wooden frame, supporting a plastic seat and back, emphasizing a more pronounced organic shape. overall, the harmonious proportions of the ‘basel’ chair offer enhanced surface texture, as well as a thinner–and more flexible–design compared to all-wood types. the combination of materials also provides more comfort than those exclusively made from timber, and with visual interest offered as a result of the two-tone variants.
