designer's own words:
-background
in this project i wanted to design a piece that will always be true and timeless. i wanted to create a watch for a person that doesn't care about trends or seasons, a
watch for someone sincere and honest to himself. this is meant to be for someone confident on his goals, on his way of thinking, always wanting to learn more from experiences.
-production
after a sketching brainstorm, i tried to keep it sober in forms but also i wanted it to be strong enough. i also took in count the identity of the brand so the piece can be part of it.
-materials
90% stainless steel
10% black titanium
the case is made entirely of polished stainless steel because it is the part that has all the elements that i wanted to show. the strap is both made with polished and matte finishings.
the bezel is made of black anodized titanium. i thought of this material because it is the part of the watch that makes contact first whenever it is impacted to a surface. titanium has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal and is naturally lustrous, so any scratch (if made) will not compromise its shine.
the crown has a segmented structure with shape of an octagon. number eight in numerology simbolizes resolution and capacity to achieve goals, a capacity to conquer objectives.it is also related to perseverance and power. the inner part of the crown is also made of titanium for estethical purposes but also to give a firm core to the crown. the final detail is the pin that fastens the strap. it has a mechanism that lets you unstrap the watch with just pushing the pin. the watch will have a safety extension joining both ends of the strap to avoid accidental dropping. the crystal will be of zirconia crystal to prevent scratches. the watch will have a day and month calendar on the time panel as well.
