AVIATOR by santosh chawla from usa
designer's own words:
breil boasts a wide range of uniquely styled watches. however one avenue which could be explored was a watch influenced by aircrafts. that’s were the ‘aviator’ comes in.
the design takes inspiration from a cockpit instrument panel of an aircraft. in particular the ‘altitude indicator’ which indicates the distance the aircraft as travelled above sea level.
the watch case is 44mm in diameter and 10.5mm thick. it’s made from aircraft grade stainless steel with a matt brushed finish which is cnc machine cut precisely to desired shape. this watch is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
the dial is a handsome darkened stainless steel minimalist dial design on which at the twelve o’clock position a large triangle sits, clearly depicting the aviation lineage of the watch. the hands and markers are covered with loads of high-contrast white superluminova, reminding us of analog instrument gauges form older planes. the lugs are done in the style of those that were once melted to the sides of pocket watches to make them wrist watches but with a contemporary solution where they warp around the sides of the watch giving it stability and cool styling.
this watch will become an instant classic and indeed add to breil ever growing watch collection.
