breil instrument by jason lau from canada
designer's own words:
in an oversaturated market of watches with similar designs, breil needs to distinguish itself with unique designs that will catch the attention of consumers. the primary goal for this concept was to design a watch with a distinct style only using basic shapes and forms. a balance between masculinity and refinement was also considered. this watch will match casual as well as formal attire.
the instrument’s casing is composed of two lugs, bezel, main casing and caseback. each lug is attached onto the side of the casing via two screws. this casing assembly gives the instrument its most distinguishing feature. all components of the watch casing are 316L stainless steel. the main casing can be machined while the lugs can be forged. most surfaces are brushed and have polished accents. the main casing (with the coin-like edge) is finished with a pvd coating to give contrast and to match the dial.
the crystal is set slightly lower than the bezel for protection. the crystal is slightly domed for its reflective properties as well as for a higher perceived value. in order to keep the dial as simple as possible, the minute markers have been moved to the side wall perpendicular to the dial while the numerals have been placed on the bezel. custom hands give the dial more flare and personality. the instrument is fitted with a set of soft rubber straps.
