designer's own words:

The handles of present doors are a confusing product because it gives no clue to let us know which way the door opens.

The traces left on the door by the hands of users is a clear message: to open a door, we tend to push it above the handle. Therefore, the affordance of a high handle is to push. Similarly, a low handle is only suitable to pull. This project uses this affordance : it raises the position of the push-handle and lowers the position of the pull-handle. It also reduces from two actions (turn then push or pull), to one (push or pull): pushing (or pulling) the handle retracts the latch and opens the door. Last, this handle appeals the subconscious of the user about the door: open the door, go inside and hang the coat or the hat - since the handle is designed so that something can be hanged on it. So it will be fun for the user to realize, without thinking, that this handle can be used as a wall hook: pull the door, go inside, hang clothes or put his hat on, push the door and go outside.
