tetsudai

designer's own words:

crossing a door means to enter into a new space, a different place; the handle is usually the physical contact between the people and the new environment.
in a variety of different environments, a door handle should be simple, functional, practical and possibly a timeless object.
from these observations came tetsudai, which has two main features.
the first is the bending angle of the door handle, which is at 100 ° instead of 90 °, as most of the handles on the market.
this feature allows the handle "to get closer" to the user (the name tetsudai means "to give an hand" in Japanese, a small tribute to a country that i respect very much)
the second feature concerns the shape of the handle; i decided to take a normal tube, that visually is the form par excellence of a door handle, and press it at the hands position, which allows an easy grip and a light rotation of the handle.
i made a real prototype because is not allowed to joke with the objects that have to do with the human body.
tetsudai is a brass door handle with chrome finish.
