The first interaction with a door handle is visual. Locating it, deciding wether to open what is closed. The second and more profound impression is the touch. It confirms the perception and engrains it with additional information.
Letting the tactile lead and the visual follow, I started with letting my hands shape a piece of plastilina with my eyes closed to amplify the sense of touch. Once the shape emerged I fine tuned it appeal to the visual sense.
