squared tim

squared tim by gianita kadarisman from canada

designer's own words:

this is the twin brother of my previous entry, the round tim.

this one has a more masculine feel to it. why not? why can't everybody be as handsome and as thoughtful as squared tim is?

squared tim is designed so that people with limited hand functions can safely push a door handle and hold open the door, using whatever side that catches his/her hand. the goal, simple as it sounds, is to not slide off the door handle (which often happens to me as i am wearing my metal splint on one finger) and successfully open the door, without much effort.

ideally, the material is aluminum (for its lightness and facilities) with a brushed steel finish. however, other metals are also suitable. grooves are inserted on the stem and the side to reassert the idea of slip proof-ness.
