blade by matthew stromberg from usa
designer's own words:
at first glance, this modern rendering of a door handle appears to defy the physical logic associated with its task. seemingly wide and thin from the front, the handle appears more decorative than functional. upon grasping the handle, the subtlety of the the form is activated. a smooth raised pad surprises the fingers behind the lever guiding the forefinger into position and the raised metal cap locates the thumb. now, the form of the handle - the raised metal cap, the raised pad and the blade - are understood as a torque generating shape that opens doors.
